Tasty Bridesmaid Proposals

By Joanna Heston

If you’re reading this magazine, chances are you are recently engaged and looking for a little “inspo” for planning your big day! Wedding trends ebb and flow year after year and in this Pinterest- and Etsy-driven world, it is so easy to let your imagination run wild. Bridesmaid proposals have evolved from phone calls and emails to brunches or dinners and now include a sentimental or personal touch. Choose a proposal that is unique to you! One of the new trends is to incorporate some of the bride’s favorite treats and give your girls a taste of your inner foodie. With numerous options, incorporating food (or the idea of food) gives you a chance to customize your bridesmaid proposal to each of your bridesmaids and makes the sentiment even more meaningful! They might have known the proposal was coming, but the creativity adds an element of surprise. Here are some proposals we are totally in love with right now!

Bubbly
Whether you choose splits or a full-sized bottle, getting married is a definite cause for celebration! Select your bridesmaids’ favorite Champagne or Prosecco and slap a label on it with a cute saying such as “Pop the Bubbly, I’m Getting a Hubby” or “Bubbly for My Bridesmaid.” Once all your bridesmaids have said “Yes,” it’s time to pop the bottle open and toast to all the planning.

Hot Sauce
For the bridesmaid who prefers spicy over sweet, consider a bottle of hot sauce “Because I’d be a hot mess without you!” Choose your favorite hot sauce and create a custom label for your girls. When they add it to a recipe or meal, they’ll be reminded of the upcoming fun planning your bachelorette party and bridal shower, and helping with wedding details. There’s definitely something spicy about that!

Pizza

There are a few Etsy shops that sell pizza necklaces that when placed together form an entire pizza. This not only mimics your friendship with your bridesmaids but makes for cute photos. Pair your necklace with a notecard and cute saying such as “I know this is cheesy, but will you be my bridesmaid?” and voila, instant yes from your bridesmaids! Take it a step further and host a pizza party but be sure to order extra cheese – they just said yes to being a “pizza” your special day!

Tacos
Like tacos and tequila, you and your bridesmaid have probably always gone hand in hand. Celebrate your upcoming nuptials with a fiesta like no other. Fill a mini piñata with your bridesmaids’ favorite candy and a little note saying “Let’s Taco Bout You Being My Bridesmaid” or drink “margaritas with your senoritas” while eating tacos! This fun twist on your bridesmaid proposal and promises to be another girls night you will never forget!

Donuts
There is nothing better than brunch with the girls. Why not coordinate brunch and your bridesmaid proposal? Say “I Donut Want to Get Married Without You” with donuts … get it? Work with your local bakery to create a donut wall for your bridesmaid brunch or, if you prefer the look and saying of the donut theme without all the sugar and carbs, you may opt for donut-shaped soaps! Either way, it is sure to be a sweet surprise.

Popcorn

He asked, you said “Yes” and now it’s your turn to pop the question! Work with a local vendor such as Johnson’s Popcorn to create a custom label for mini tubs of popcorn. Choose between the different flavors offered such as their world-famous caramel, cheddar cheese, the salty and sandy combo, or mix and match depending on their tastes! This sweet and crunchy sentiment is sure to make your bridesmaids say “Yes”! Keep mini tubs of popcorn in mind when it comes time to consider favors for your guests, too.
