Ryan and Katie met when they were bartenders at the same establishment. A few years and a lot of laughs and memories later, Ryan planned a perfect New Year’s Eve proposal while on a family vacation in St. Thomas. Beginning their happily ever after with a week in paradise and having both grown up spending summers at the shore, a shore wedding was a given when it came time to plan their big day.
The couple wanted a neutral, timeless, black-tie affair at the shore. After touring The Reeds at Shelter Haven, they knew they had found their dream venue. On the eve of their big day, the couple, their families and friends enjoyed a rehearsal dinner at Chill Rooftop Grill. The next morning, Katie and her bridesmaids enjoyed a catered breakfast in the Sky Suite at The Reeds while getting their hair and makeup done. Katie wore a stunning Enzoani gown and her bridesmaids chose varying styles in the color Show Me the Ring Crisp from Show Me Your Mumu. Ryan and his groomsmen opted for traditional black tuxedos and even celebrated the Super Bowl LII champions by wearing Eagles socks.
A trolley transported the bridal party between The Reeds and the nearby ceremony location at St. Paul Church and, despite the rain, even stopped at the beach for photos. Katie and Ryan also enlisted the help of Sea Isle Films to capture every little detail through video to be able to look back on their special day for years to come. Personal touches were added to the day from start to finish and Katie ensured no detail was missed. Ryan’s uncle, a priest from Saint Vincent College, flew in from Latrobe, Pa., to marry the couple. The Reeds’ on-site pastry chef created a beautiful four-tier vanilla cake with buttercream icing accompanied by large white flowers from the florist. Palm leaves were added to the centerpieces and decorations to further enhance the coastal yet elegant vibe the couple wanted to capture. The music was provided by the house DJ who played once a week at the bar where Katie and Ryan met; over the years they became great friends with him, so it was only fitting to include him in their big day. Instead of a photo booth, the couple had their guests use mini instapix cameras to preserve the memories with sweet messages in a book of photos.
Guests danced the night away and celebrated Ryan and Katie’s love story. The reception ended with a “Fly, Eagles, Fly” sing-along before heading for an after-party at a nearby bar.
Katie and Ryan spent an extended weekend at the shore, soaking in each and every moment of their black-tie affair. Later, they traveled to Costa Rica for their honeymoon.
What We Love:
While we normally gush over our beautiful brides, and this one is definitely one of them, we felt the bride herself best described one of the details we loved the most: “Ryan, our groomsmen and fathers wore Philadelphia Eagles 2018 Super Bowl champion socks with their tuxes because #PhillyPhilly.” Let’s hear it couples – E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!
