Not surprisingly, many of our couples refer to the shore as their “happy place.” And when it comes to planning a wedding, they look back at their happy place as the perfect spot to pledge their lifelong commitment. Catherine and Jason met in Avalon, dated in Philadelphia, and returned to the Seven Mile Beach for their bayside ceremony and reception. Unique details set the evening as an elegant affair with a love of the shore, each other, and their Goldendoodle, Riley.
Before a bayside ceremony and reception at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor, the couple took a private moment to catch a first look on the 9th Street beach in Avalon – with Riley, of course. Catherine walked down the isle in a stunning Ines Di Santo gown with bridesmaids decked in a variety of blush-toned BHLDN dresses. Following the “I do,” guests headed to the deck at the yacht club and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and a custom signature drink, named … you guessed it … Riley! Reception tables were decked with elegant floral centerpieces designed by Karin Parker of Blooms, featuring roses, hydrangeas and peonies in white and blush colors.
The couple hit the dance floor for their first dance, where Jason surprised his new bride by singing Van Morrison’s “Someone Like You” for their first dance. For dinner, guests’ tables were appropriately named for the couple’s favorite shore spots – Uncle Bill’s Pancake House, Springer’s Ice Cream, and more. And for dessert, The Bake Works presented a three-tiered almond cake with white pastry cream and decked with flowers. In lieu of favors, the couple made a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and surprised guests with a late-night snack of toasted breakfast sandwiches.
Following the “best day ever” at Catherine and Jason’s happy place, the newlyweds traveled to a romantic honeymoon in Santorini, Greece and the Amalfi Coast in Italy. The couple returns to their happy place as often as possible … with Riley, of course.
