Love is sweet and that is what we love about this couple from West Chester, Pa. Mutual friends introduced this cute couple and they quickly discovered they shared a love of the shore, specifically Cape May… specifically in the offseason. Because who doesn’t love Cape May when dusted with snow and decked with twinkling holiday lights?
The weather wasn’t the greatest on the Labor Day weekend when Matthew planned to propose. And the proposal via airplane banner was slightly postponed. But Matthew was relentless and just one day late, a plane provided by Paramount Air Service flew by a Cape May beach where the couple were enjoying the weekend. The question, just a few hundred feet above the sea: “Lauren, will you marry me? Love Matt.” The answer: a resounding yes.
After meeting coordinator Sarah Mormello from the Ocean Club Hotel, the couple agreed on a one-stop shop for the special day, from morning preparations all the way to the late-night snacks. Lauren walked down the aisle on the patio of the Ocean Club in an Essense of Australia gown, holding a cascading bouquet of pink and ivory roses and green accents. The inspiration of navy, gold and pink was carried throughout the evening.
The Bake Works followed the theme with a three-tier cake highlighted by gold glitter, a navy base, a “Love” topper… and a decadent red velvet cake inside. And to add to the sweetness, the couple provided a dessert table with to-go boxes: “Love is sweet, take a treat!”
And yes, the trending song of the year is “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran, but Lauren and Matt added a little rhythm to their first dance to a remake featuring Beyonce with Sheeran. And following an oceanside ceremony, a yummy dessert bar and a night dancing to the beat with friends and family, the couple said “Bon voyage” and sailed away on a cruise to Bermuda.
What we love:
The centerpieces. We, as lovers of all things wedding, love a champagne toast. And when a couple matches their elegant centerpieces to the glittering (and bubbling) gold of a cheers to the newlyweds, we’re here for that. Cheers!
