Lindsay and Jay always knew they wanted to get married with their toes in the sand, and a blue sky, sunshine and ocean waves as their backdrop. The couple, who met through mutual friends at a high school party and became inseparable, were engaged on the beach in Ocean City, Md. When they started their planning process, a bohemian-style shore wedding was a must.
Their vision was to host their families and closest friends for a small, intimate wedding. ICONA Avalon had everything they needed to bring this vision to fruition, including rooms for their guests, a spot to host their rehearsal dinner and, of course, the beach; the venue is situated right on the beach in Avalon. They decided to incorporate neutral hues and different shades of blue to give their guests a beachy vibe.
Lindsay wore a stunning L’Fay Bridal gown and she assigned each of her bridesmaids a different style gown in coordinating colors of dusty blue, misty blue, gray and a flower print. Coventry Crossing created a matching flower crown for Lindsay to give her the bohemian style she envisioned and decorated the venue from floor to ceiling with white roses, white hydrangeas, eucalyptus, and other greenery. The Bake Works designed a three-tier, white textured cake with greenery placed around each tier. It featured a custom topper and was displayed on a rustic wooden slab at the reception.
Personalized details were included throughout the ceremony and the reception, as it was important to the bride and groom that their wedding day be representative of them. The ceremony was held on the beach in front of ICONA with Lindsay’s brother officiating. They each read their own vows to one another in a meaningful and intimate ceremony.
During the reception, Jay and Lindsay shared their first dance to “Fire and the Flood” as one of their groomsmen played it on his guitar. The favors, personalized can koozies the couple had designed, were a hit with their guests. As they danced the night away, Lindsay and Jay took in every moment of their day before heading off to a tropical honeymoon in Jamaica.
What we love:
Laid-back love. An elegant bri-dal flower crown, groomsmen in suspenders, varying bridesmaid styles (double love) and an adorable ring bearer. These little touches all came together to make a shore wedding we absolutely love. Laid-back, yet elegant, and fun! From the smiles on the couple’s faces and the dance moves from the guests, we can guess that guests will reminisce about this day for years to come.
